Catherine Moore is probably best known to SF and fantasy readers for her many collaborations with partner and husband Henry Kuttner, a partnership that produced such classics as "The Vintage Season" and "Mimsy Were The Borogoves." But before that Catherine was a successful writer on her own, and the stories of C.L. Moore were mainstays of the science fiction magazines of the 30s. This was the pulp era, a time when magazine SF was in its infancy and writers were making up the rules as they went along.

As noted in the previous post, the story section was down due to an issue with my web host. This prompted me to perform some updates to the site.

1 - eFiction is now at version 3.5. A bug in the script has caused me to replace one of the files with an older version until the developer corrects the problems.

2 - The bridge files have been updates to work with PHP5.

3 - The new validation scheme that was talked about a while back is now in place. While this will not be visible to you, it allows for me to manage site permissions from a central point.

You may notice an issue if using the eFiction member list, as people will not be listed as validated there. This can be ignored, and will at some point be transitioned to use only vBulletin.

I am planning a slight improvement to the menu system, adding groups to the top menu buttons to try and promote the feature more.

If you have a Meebo account (http://www.meebo.com) you can create a widget and put the code into your profile. This will activate a Meebo chat window that will allow visitors to chat directly with you.

My profile has it setup, so you can take a look and see how it works :)

Joe Pitt is one of those men who could start a fight in an empty room. Not that he needs to, there's a whole city full of vampires who have an axe to grind with him. After the events of the last book, Joe has been exiled the South Bronx. He's doing his best to keep a low profile and eke out enough of a living to keep him in blood, bullets and smokes. It's not easy. He's there on sufferance -- despite the tolerance and interest of local boss Esperanza -- and he's down to his last three bullets.

First, I want to apologise for the delay in getting things situation here. We had a power outage Saturday night and did not get power until Sunday. Not a fun day at all

On to the site. We are seeing a couple of small issues.

1 - A database error has occurred in the forum area. I have disabled the recent story link in the forum listings for the moment while I correct the problem. I have a ticked submitted so hopefully it will be cleaned up soon.

2 - My email from the site is down again. I will check my messages here as often as I can, so feel free to PM me with any questions.

Everything else seems to be working for the moment. Let me know if you see any problems around the site.

Thanks
